While watching my nephew (2.5 years old) play with his toys, I overheard him describe the action of his toy dog (who had just jumped out a window on a toy house) thusly: "the dog get-outed the window." I found his adoption of "-ed" at the end of a "verb" to denote an action in the past (despite being unaware of the actual verb or the necessity of an irregular conjugation) both fascinating and familiar, given my similar misteps when learning a second language.
