As a musician myself, I have certainly found this to be true. But the benefits don't stop there. Learning to play a musical instrument also helps raise confidence and self esteem, and improve concentration, as well as giving the student an additional creative outlet, which helps improve their overall mood and sense of well being.

As a musician, I also have lots more opportunities to interact with other people in orchestras and bands. If a child shows even the tiniest signs of being musical, I would certainly encourage them to take up a musical instrument.</description>
