Info about Stoke
With a population just under 250,000, Stoke-on-Trent is about halfway between Birmingham and Manchester, and was famed historically for the quality of its pottery and ceramics. However, the image of a sleepy town of potters is not Stoke's modern-day image - the city has a lively music scene (the birthplace of Robbie Williams, amongst others) and a vibrant clubbing circuit.
Stoke and the surrounding Potteries Urban Area have a distinct dialect, with numerous words unique to the English language, most famously using the word 'duck' as a greeting. Stoke also has a growing Asian population, making it a great city to study languages from Asia and the subcontinent.

The staff at my small import company already knew a bit of Japanese, but I wanted to make sure that they were aware of the many customs and traditions, as well as improving their language skills. Kaori comes to the warehouse every Tuesday, and has always been patient and professional, even though sometimes the guys joke around with her. Everyone is really interested in the culture, and we've all become much more comfortable with our conversational skills. Cheers, Language Trainers.
