One-to-one General/Business
Russian Course in Plymouth
Whether you want Russian lessons to help you in your general day-to-day life or for business needs, our made-to-order language courses can help you improve quickly and confidently.
A General course in Russian will grant you 'Survival Russian' - enough under your belt to furnish you with a working knowledge for the purpose of visiting the country, allowing you to introduce yourself and engage in conversation with native speakers. Business courses are great for those whose career will be moving overseas - you would learn the fundamental protocols for engaging in business in Russian, and later would start to focus more on the integral skills of reading and writing.
Our Russian courses would not be fixed to a specific curriculum, however. You know the specifics of what you will need from your new language, and all you need do is tell your teacher. Perhaps if you are taking a Business course, you may want to focus more on Russian telephone or email skills, or a specific vocabulary for your line of work. Similarly, General courses can delve deeper into certain areas of the language that you know you will need.
Typical learners who choose our Business courses are import/export professionals, agents for multi-national companies, and those involved with foreign governments and universities. Clients of our General Russian courses include people moving abroad, those entering a Russian family through marriage, those studying for a Russian exam, as well as those who are simply passionate about Russian language and culture.

Info about Plymouth
With around 250,000 inhabitants, Plymouth is one of the more populous cities in the south west of the UK. It is not, however, one of the more culturally diverse. With its largest ethnic minority group making up only around 0.5% of the city's population as a whole, the cultural homogeny is in line with the county of Devon as a whole.
This does not, however, discount Plymouth from being a suitable place to pick up a new language. The University of Plymouth is the biggest university in the south-west, with more than 30,000 students and many of them coming from overseas; and Plymouth is well-known for having many schools teaching English as a foreign language, mainly for the children visiting the city by Ferry from France and Spain.

Info about Russian
As the most popular Slavic language with around 275 million speakers worldwide, Russian is the official language of Russia, and is spoken widely in countries that used to form republics of the now-dissolved USSR; for example Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Russian is an extremely challenging language to learn for those with no experience of Slavic languages. First of all there's the hurdle of the Cyrillic alphabet, of which the Russians use their own 33-letter variant. Then there's the pronunciation - almost a world apart from any English dialect. Russian is classified as a 'level III' language (the second hardest level) in terms of difficulty for native English speakers, according to the Defence Language Institute of California; but the doors that learning Russian opens to you cannot be underestimated.
