MDR (mort de rire)<\/i><\/h2>\n

The English translation for mort de rire <\/i>is dying of laughter<\/i> but MDR<\/i> could be looked at as the equivalent of the much-used LOL<\/i> (laughing out loud).<\/p>\n

BJR (bonjour)<\/i><\/h2>\n

Bonjour <\/i>is probably one of the first words you learned in French, so you already know it means hello<\/i> or good day<\/i>. But if you use the abbreviation BJR<\/i>, its English equivalent would probably be closer to the shortened hi.<\/i><\/p>\n

Mr6 (merci<\/i>)<\/h2>\n

Although this abbreviation probably looks like some sort of super-spy code, it really is just a shortened version of the word merci<\/i> or thank you<\/i>.<\/p>\n

DSL (desol\u00e9<\/i>)<\/h2>\n

This is a great abbreviation to remember because you\u2019ll probably find yourself using it to apologize during your French texting struggles. DSL<\/i> stands for desol\u00e9 <\/i>which, of course, means sorry<\/i>.<\/p>\n

A+ (\u00e0 plus tard<\/i>)<\/h2>\n

A+ doesn\u2019t carry the same meaning in French texting as it does in English. You\u2019d probably look at it and think it means top-notch<\/i>, but in French, the abbreviation stands for \u00e0 plus tard <\/i>or see you later<\/i>.<\/p>\n

PK (pourquoi<\/i>)<\/h2>\n

This one may be a bit tougher to understand because you can\u2019t really pronounce it in order to find its meaning. Basically, PK<\/i> stands for the French word pourquoi<\/i> which means why<\/i>.<\/p>\n

JTM (je t\u2019aime<\/i>)<\/h2>\n

Since French is the language of love, perhaps this is the best abbreviation to have at hand. It translates as je t\u2019aime<\/i> which in English means I love you<\/i>.<\/p>\n

BCP (beaucoup<\/i>)<\/h2>\n

Beaucoup <\/i>is such a long word it\u2019s no wonder the French found a way to make it more efficient in text messages! Beaucoup <\/i>means a lot<\/i> and is useful for many phrases. For example JTM BCP<\/i> (je t\u2019aime beaucoup<\/i>). See, you\u2019re already texting like a pro!<\/p>\n
