Get Started and Learn English

According to the 2011 Census, more than 100 thousand people living in Cambridge speak only English, which represents an impressive 85% of the population. This means that taking an English course will become an asset to get a better job, to communicate with the locals and to pursue higher education in a city famous for its university. Just contact us at Language Trainers and we will start designing the best course for your abilities and needs! Our courses are personalised, so you will improve your language skills in a very short time.

Why Study English in Cambridge

Learn English for Work and Studies: Cambridge is emerging as one of the top cities for technology companies in the UK and you can take advantage of this and advance in your career. Some examples of companies that are looking for employees with a high level of English proficiency are Raspberry Pi, an educational charity established in 2008, and Ieso Digital Health, founded in 2016, a firm that provides mental health therapy to those in need.

If you are not actively job-seeking but intend to study instead, you have many options. The most prestigious university in the city is, of course, Cambridge University. This institution requires international students to be proficient in English as they will have to undertake an intensive academic course taught and examined in English. Their minimum English language requirements include passing the IELTS Academic exam with an overall grade of 7.5, a C2 Proficiency exam with a score of 200, or a TOEFL Internet Based Test with an overall score of 110. All of these exams are quite challenging, so if you are planning to enrol in a course at Cambridge University, Anglia Ruskin University or Cambridge Regional College, contact us and we can start designing a personalised course right away!

Learn English for Social: Knowing English will also allow you to connect with the local population at another level. To further practise what you learn in your lessons with Language Trainers, you can join the Cambridge International Friends Meetup Group. It has more than 3600 members who want to make some friends locally. They welcome anyone interested in sharing their experiences and having fun while speaking English. They organise different types of events such as language exchanges or dance parties in bars. Sports events are other places where you can meet people with similar interests and put your English into play. Some popular sports in Cambridge are football, cricket and rugby. So, if you are a fan of Cambridge United FC or Cambridge RUFC, you should go and watch some of their matches. You will surely find other die-hard fans like you to chat about your favourite football or rugby team and try out your newly acquired English accent!

Learn English for Culture: Those more interested in learning about the local culture will find that there are many things to do in Cambridge. For example, you can visit fantastic museums, take walking tours and see live music and theatre. Cambridge offers a vibrant selection of festivals and events all year long. One of them is the Cambridge History Festival, established in 2015. It is an annual series of local historical reenactments, taking place throughout the city. If you have an interest in the historical past of the city, you should attend this event! All the performances are in English, so make sure you take some lessons with us in advance. You can also book a walking tour of Cambridge in English and discover why this place is known and respected throughout the world while visiting it hidden streets and getting to know its secrets like a local.
