Learning a language is all about taking risks and trying your best.

Good morning, Vittoria! Thank you very much for taking the time to answer our questions today. Could you tell us what languages you teach and why you chose a career in teaching?

I teach English and French. Since I love languages and helping people, I decided at quite a young age that I would become a teacher.

And how did you go about getting ready for a job in this field? Tell us about your teaching qualifications and history.

I started my teaching career as an English Language Assistant in France. I worked during my gap year abroad, while at University at a Lycée. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it gave me the confidence to apply to complete a PGCE in Secondary Modern Foreign Languages. It also installed my vocation as a teacher. I qualified with Qualified Teacher Status in 2002!

That’s amazing! And how did you end up teaching with Language Trainers?

I applied for a job with them because I liked that they are versatile in terms of teaching online or face-to-face. Also, the variety of languages that the company offers is fantastic. I love the flexibility they give me, allowing me to deliver lessons while I take care of my children and fulfil my other responsibilities.

It’s fantastic to know that working with us has allowed you to have a nice work-life balance. Out of all the perks of working with Language Trainers, which one’s your favourite?

I love the interaction with students. I've got to know them really well over the sessions and it’s great to see them improve and appreciate the activities you plan for them. I also appreciate the support from the course coordinators. The staff always treats you like the professional you are.

Thank you for your kind words, Vittoria. It seems that you know very well what you expect from your employers. Now, regarding your classes, what do you look for in a student?

Enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go. Learning a language is all about taking risks and trying your best.

Taking risks is certainly helpful when learning a new language! And what should students expect from you as their teacher?

They can expect me to prepare lessons that are catered to their needs and learning style. I'll also make them relevant and enjoyable. I try to pick topics that the student has an interest in.

That’s great! I’m sure your students appreciate it. So far, which has been your most memorable teaching experience with Language Trainers?

It was the first time I did an online lesson. I was slightly nervous as I hadn't used Zoom before. The lesson was fantastic and I was very pleased that there weren't any technical issues. The topic discussion went so well to the extent that my student gave me suggestions and research to do!

It seems like you did a great job in motivating him! Why do you think students should enrol in a language course with Language Trainers?

I think there are many reasons why: the variety of languages they offer, the flexibility of learning and the quality of teaching and service.

Thank you! Finally, why don’t you tell us a fun fact about the language you teach?

The longest word in French is 25 letters long: Anticonstitutionnellement.
