One-to-one General/Business

Arabic Course in Plymouth

Whether you're looking to learn a language for personal or business reasons, our tailor-made courses can help you achieve your aims.

While a General Arabic course will provide you with enough linguistic ammunition to allow you to survive a short visit to the country (greetings, basic conversation and a solid grammatical foundation). Business courses will centre more on formal, business communication, and focus more on reading and writing skills as you advance further.

Our Arabic courses would not be fixed to a specific curriculum, however. You know the specifics of what you will need from your new language, and all you need do is tell your teacher. Perhaps if you are taking a Business course, you may want to focus more on Arabic telephone or email skills, or a specific vocabulary for your line of work. In the same vein, the syllabus for General courses is not set in stone - all you need do is ask your teacher.

Typical learners who choose our Business courses are import/export professionals, agents for multi-national companies, and those involved with foreign governments and universities. Clients of our General Arabic courses include people moving abroad, those entering a Arabic family through marriage, those studying for a Arabic exam, as well as those who are simply passionate about Arabic language and culture.

Info about Plymouth

With around 250,000 inhabitants, Plymouth is one of the more populous cities in the south west of the UK. It is not, however, one of the more culturally diverse. With its largest ethnic minority group making up only around 0.5% of the city's population as a whole, the cultural homogeny is in line with the county of Devon as a whole.

This does not, however, discount Plymouth from being a suitable place to pick up a new language. The University of Plymouth is the biggest university in the south-west, with more than 30,000 students and many of them coming from overseas; and Plymouth is well-known for having many schools teaching English as a foreign language, mainly for the children visiting the city by Ferry from France and Spain.

Info about Arabic

Just as Latin forms the basis of most European languages, Arabic is prevalent throughout Islamic tongues. The most-spoken Semitic language in the world (well over 250 million speakers, mainly across the north of Africa), the Arabic language was of massive importance during the Middle Ages, with many important scientific, mathematical and philosophical works emanating from the Arabic world. The first worry about learning Arabic is the alphabet - the main factor of confusion being that it is written from right to left. However, once you've settled in to the new writing system and rules of pronunciation, Arabic is an intensely rich language which attracts millions of new speakers every year.
