A Business course will focus on business protocol in Catalan, and later on reading and writing will become more important.
The exact syllabus is not determined simply in terms of 'General' or 'Business' - the course is tailor-made to your needs. If, as a Business student, you need extra focus on telephone or email communication, or vocabulary from a specific field of business, you only need mention this to your tutor. Likewise, a General course can include specific elements that are integral to your needs, for example if you need vocabulary specific to buying property overseas.
Typical Business course students include those in international import/export, those hoping to gain acquisitions in foreign countries, those within multinational corporations, and people who do business with foreign institutions and governments. Info about Catalan
Spoken as the national language in Andorra, and utilised in several territories in Spain (most notably Catalonia, parts of Valencia, and the Balearic Islands) as well as parts of Italy and southern France, Catalan is spoken by around 9 million people worldwide, though primarily in Europe. Spain's re-entry into democracy in 1975 increased the use of Catalan around Spain, which had for so long been banned from being used by the Spanish media in favour of Castilian, the language which non-native speakers generally refer to as 'Spanish'.
Regarded as a language in its own right and not simply a regional Spanish dialect, Catalan is actually divided into two dialects - Western and Eastern Catalan, though linguists can debate that each of these can be divided into several sub-dialects depending on the area in which it is spoken, making it a particularly exotic language to learn!

Initially I was looking for intensive individual instruction over a short period of three to four weeks. I found Language Trainers UK through a web search and found the site easy to use. There was sufficient information on each of the packages available to help me make a choice and I finally settled on a course of 10 individual lessons (20hours) which suited my needs. The course was set up very quickly and has been well organised with flexibility about both venue and dates. With regard to the individual sessions I have found Elena to be well qualified and efficient. She quickly established an appreciation of my language level and past experience of learning Latin, French and Russian.
