General and Business courses in Chinese differ in style and content: a General course will concentrate on developing confident conversational skills, making short visits to the country less of an exercise in frustration and more about building upon the foundations to your own ends. A Business course will focus on business protocol in Chinese, and later on reading and writing will become more important.

Most students taking a Business Chinese course will gain telephone and email expertise, as well as general conversation skills.
