One-to-one General/Business

Hindi Course in Dublin

If you want to be taught Hindi for academic reasons, business needs or gain a working knowledge of the language for general purposes, our tailormade lessons are guaranteed to be the ideal solution.

While a General Hindi course will provide you with enough linguistic ammunition to allow you to survive a short visit to the country (greetings, basic conversation and a solid grammatical foundation). A Business course in Hindi will generally cover basic business etiquette in that language, and at a higher level, reading and writing in Hindi.

Our Hindi courses would not be fixed to a specific curriculum, however. You know the specifics of what you will need from your new language, and all you need do is tell your teacher. Perhaps if you are taking a Business course, you may want to focus more on Hindi telephone or email skills, or a specific vocabulary for your line of work. In the same way, those taking a General course who may need more knowledge of a certain aspect of Hindi need only request it from their teacher.

Our Business courses cater to a range of requirements. Many of our clients work for foreign governments and educational institutions, corporations with branches abroad, as well as those who buy and sell around the world. General courses are not simply for those who need to reach a certain level of Hindi for an exam - they are perfect for those wishing to pack up and move abroad, those marrying a Hindi national, as well as those travelling to the country for any other reason.

City information

Capital of Ireland and its largest city, Dublin was recently voted the best capital city in Europe in which to live - and the city has a pretty good case for such praise. While the city has traditionally been a centre of emigration, in recent decades the number of immigrants to Dublin has swelled, giving rise to a remarkable diverse community, particularly from the EU (mainly the UK, Lithuania and Poland), though there are also large Chinese, Nigerian, Brazilian, Russian and Australian communities.

One result of the mish-mash of ethnicities in the city is the eruption of ethnic food shops, but another is the array of languages heard around the city; which makes Dublin a superb location to pick up a new language. This vibrant city is full of young singles - 50% of inhabitants are under 25, and in 2007 Dublin was named the friendliest city in Europe in a worldwide survey.

Language information

Although it is the official language in only India, Pakistan and Fiji; as many as 500 million people worldwide are native speakers of Hindi. Dating back to the end of the 10th century AD, 'Standard Hindi' is basically a dialect (known as khari boli) which has had vocabulary from Sanskrit introduced to it, and is written using the Devanagari script.

Increasingly in recent years, many speakers of Hindi are also able to speak 'Hinglish', a vernacular language in which Hindi and English are used together. This is mostly heard in highly-populated urban areas, but thanks to the popularity of Bollywood, the use of English in Indian schools and the introduction of cable television, Hinglish is becoming more and more accepted amongst Hindi speakers.

With the huge amount of Indian and Pakistani immigrants found across the UK, Hindi can be heard in many areas of the country, and is an exciting and relatively new language to pick up.
