One-to-one General/Business

Hindi Course in London

If you want to be taught Hindi for academic reasons, business needs or gain a working knowledge of the language for general purposes, our tailormade lessons are guaranteed to be the ideal solution.

General and Business courses in Hindi differ in style and content: a General course will concentrate on developing confident conversational skills, making short visits to the country less of an exercise in frustration and more about building upon the foundations to your own ends. Business courses are aimed at those wishing to work in the target language - so a working knowledge of etiquette in Hindi business, as well as developing proficient reading and writing skills.

Our Hindi courses would not be fixed to a specific curriculum, however. You know the specifics of what you will need from your new language, and all you need do is tell your teacher. Perhaps if you are taking a Business course, you may want to focus more on Hindi telephone or email skills, or a specific vocabulary for your line of work. In the same way, those taking a General course who may need more knowledge of a certain aspect of Hindi need only request it from their teacher.

Our Business courses cater to a range of requirements. Many of our clients work for foreign governments and educational institutions, corporations with branches abroad, as well as those who buy and sell around the world. General courses in Hindi suit those hoping to emigrate to foreign shores, people with a view to travel to countries where Hindi is the vernacular tongue, those with a keen interest in Hindi culture and language, and people with foreign spouses.

City information

London may well be THE place to pick up a second language - the city is awash with ethnic diversity thanks to the size, splendour and influence of the EU's most populous city. Over 300 languages are spoken around the sprawling mass of boroughs known as Greater London, shared amongst the 7 and a half million residents of the city.

As the capital of the UK, London has always attracted overseas interest, which is only helped by the fact that the city houses five international airports, including the busiest international airport in the world - Heathrow. This creates a constant influx of tourists and immigrants from a huge variety of cultural and religious origin. If there was ever a place ideally suited for learning another language, surely London is it - something that foreigners know only too well, as London is a global centre for English language learning.

Language information

Although it is the official language in only India, Pakistan and Fiji; as many as 500 million people worldwide are native speakers of Hindi. Dating back to the end of the 10th century AD, 'Standard Hindi' is basically a dialect (known as khari boli) which has had vocabulary from Sanskrit introduced to it, and is written using the Devanagari script.

Increasingly in recent years, many speakers of Hindi are also able to speak 'Hinglish', a vernacular language in which Hindi and English are used together. This is mostly heard in highly-populated urban areas, but thanks to the popularity of Bollywood, the use of English in Indian schools and the introduction of cable television, Hinglish is becoming more and more accepted amongst Hindi speakers.

With the huge amount of Indian and Pakistani immigrants found across the UK, Hindi can be heard in many areas of the country, and is an exciting and relatively new language to pick up.
