One-to-one General/Business
Ukrainian Course in Glasgow
If you want to be taught Ukrainian for academic reasons, business needs or gain a working knowledge of the language for general purposes, our tailormade lessons are guaranteed to be the ideal solution.
General and Business courses in Ukrainian differ in style and content: a General course will concentrate on developing confident conversational skills, making short visits to the country less of an exercise in frustration and more about building upon the foundations to your own ends. A Business course will focus on business protocol in Ukrainian, and later on reading and writing will become more important.
The possibilities are not limited to these two categories, however. Those taking a Business course will generally also learn Ukrainian telephone and email skills, as well as learning the basics for surviving short visits to the country. In the same way, those taking a General course who may need more knowledge of a certain aspect of Ukrainian need only request it from their teacher.
We arrange Business courses for many clients; primarily those working in international trade, overseas governments and universities, and employees of multinational firms who require a second language. General courses in Ukrainian suit those hoping to emigrate to foreign shores, people with a view to travel to countries where Ukrainian is the vernacular tongue, those with a keen interest in Ukrainian culture and language, and people with foreign spouses.

Language information
Ukrainian is an East Slavic language, used by around 40 million people around the world, and shares many features with other Slavic tongues such as Polish, Russian, Croatian and Slovak; including the Cyrillic alphabet.
The Ukrainian language has had a chequered history, and is currently recovering from a period of deterioration due to numerous bans and discouragement over the past few centuries. Since the last decade of the 20th century, the Ukrainian government has actively encouraged the spread of the language, and nowadays almost everyone in Ukraine speaks the language, though many are also fluent in Russian.
Ukrainian, like most Slavic languages, is a difficult prospect for the average native English speaker, but fluency can be gained with careful study, daily practice and a little passion.
I wanted to learn some Spanish before hiking the Camino de Santiago in Spain this summer. Not only did Jorge cover all the basics with me, but we even went over some maps together, and he made sure I really had all my directions down pat. Now I'll not only be able to find a place to crash, but I'll be able to have a chat with the locals over a bottle of wine, too.
