English in Edinburgh
Why learn English in Edinburgh? – Scotland’s capital city is a hub of tourist and cultural destinations. With a lower cost of living than London, Edinburgh is a wonderful destination to study English for the first time or to brush up on existing skills. As a world class city full of festivals, history and scenic beauty, Edinburgh will provide a host of engaging opportunities to meet new people. Check out the Edinburgh Film Festival, have lunch at the Elephant House where J.K. Rowling wrote parts of her iconic “Harry Potter” series, or explore the winding, cobblestone streets of this picturesque hilly capital as you study English in Edinburgh.
The beauty of Edinburgh Castle and the adjacent Prince Street Gardens await you as a perfect location to enjoy tea or a picnic in spring or summer. Do some luxury shopping (or just window shopping) at Jenner’s, the “Harrods of the North” and the city’s most famous department store, which has occupied the same location since it was founded back in 1838! Or, take in the beauty of Impressionist and Renaissance masterpieces at the National Gallery of Art, a museum that is free to visitors. There’s also the National Museum of Scotland, which offers treasures from around the world. There’s plenty of history and culture to be enjoyed while learning English in Edinburgh.
Nature lovers will find plenty to their liking while taking English classes in Edinburgh. Take in new sights and scents throughout the year at the Royal Botanic Gardens, or visit the Edinburgh Zoo, just a short bus ride from the city centre, for a peek at the UK’s only giant pandas! The Royal Yacht Britannia, once the sea-bound home to the Queen and Royal Family, is now a tourist attraction as well. Savour natural beauty and the outdoors as you take English courses in Edinburgh.
You’ll never be out of things to do in Auld Reekie, or Old Smoky, as the city is nicknamed, whether you are taking in the scenery of Old Town from a cafe or pub, or learning something new at a world-class museum. Edinburgh is known as “the Athens of the North,” not just because of its hilltop location, but also because it is a city of arts and intellectual pursuits. Enjoy the city’s temperate weather, with temperatures that rarely reach above 22 degrees Celsius, even in the summer! Ready to jump in, start seeing the sights and learn English in the process?
