Language Trainers: Good morning, Vittoria! Thank you very much for taking the time to answer our questions today. Could you tell us what languages you teach and why you chose a career in teaching?
Vittoria: I teach English and French. Since I love languages and helping people, I decided at quite a young age that I would become a teacher.
Language Trainers: And how did you go about getting ready for a job in this field? Tell us about your teaching qualifications and history.
Vittoria: I started my teaching career as an English Language Assistant in France. I worked during my gap year abroad, while at University at a Lycée. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it gave me the confidence to apply to complete a PGCE in Secondary Modern Foreign Languages. It also installed my vocation as a teacher. I qualified with Qualified Teacher Status in 2002!
Language Trainers: That’s amazing! And how did you end up teaching with Language Trainers?
Vittoria: I applied for a job with them because I liked that they are versatile in terms of teaching online or face-to-face. Also, the variety of languages that the company offers is fantastic. I love the flexibility they give me, allowing me to deliver lessons while I take care of my children and fulfil my other responsibilities.
Language Trainers: It’s fantastic to know that working with us has allowed you to have a nice work-life balance. Out of all the perks of working with Language Trainers, which one’s your favourite?
Vittoria: I love the interaction with students. I've got to know them really well over the sessions and it’s great to see them improve and appreciate the activities you plan for them. I also appreciate the support from the course coordinators. The staff always treats you like the professional you are.
Language Trainers: Thank you for your kind words, Vittoria. It seems that you know very well what you expect from your employers. Now, regarding your classes, what do you look for in a student?
Vittoria: Enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go. Learning a language is all about taking risks and trying your best.
Language Trainers: Taking risks is certainly helpful when learning a new language! And what should students expect from you as their teacher?
Vittoria: They can expect me to prepare lessons that are catered to their needs and learning style. I'll also make them relevant and enjoyable. I try to pick topics that the student has an interest in.
Language Trainers: That’s great! I’m sure your students appreciate it. So far, which has been your most memorable teaching experience with Language Trainers?
Vittoria: It was the first time I did an online lesson. I was slightly nervous as I hadn't used Zoom before. The lesson was fantastic and I was very pleased that there weren't any technical issues. The topic discussion went so well to the extent that my student gave me suggestions and research to do!
Language Trainers: It seems like you did a great job in motivating him! Why do you think students should enrol in a language course with Language Trainers?
Vittoria: I think there are many reasons why: the variety of languages they offer, the flexibility of learning and the quality of teaching and service.
Language Trainers: Thank you! Finally, why don’t you tell us a fun fact about the language you teach?
Vittoria: The longest word in French is 25 letters long: Anticonstitutionnellement.
