Kelly's Bio
Hi, I'm Kelly, I'm a freelance writer and CELTA qualified ESL teacher from the UK. One day, I might even take on the DELTA, though my interests lie more in helping individuals rather than managing a staffroom, so we'll see.
I've taught as a private tutor in homes, cafes and bars across Europe, and in many classrooms as well, helping students prepare for all kinds of exams, from locally regulated ones to those certified by Cambridge, like the CAE and IELTS. I've helped students in the labs, offices and boardrooms of some incredible organisations across Europe, from growing businesses to conglomerates. My focus is English for a specific purpose, such as business, and exam preparation. I am yet to have a student fail an exam!
Also, I write as a freelancer, covering a range of subjects for a variety of clients. My main focuses, aside from language and travel, are the environment and animal welfare. The opinions on these always make for great conversation topics for lessons and whilst travelling since everyone has such different views and outlooks.
Travelling throughout Europe has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It's been great to move from city to city, discovering the different histories, cultures and, of course, food! I like smaller places that are off the beaten path far more than sprawling cities; it really is the best way to discover a place and get to know people properly. Though this is also true of countries outside of Europe; it is a far different experience spending time in Jilin in northern China than in Beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen, for example! Above all, I think the main thing travelling, teaching and writing have taught me over the years, is that kindness and compassion are the most important things we can learn and teach in the world.
