Reviews Of Our Hindi Courses
Having been a part-time language teacher in my student days, I have an appreciation of the challenges involved in teaching adults to speak a foreign language. Wishing to learn Hindi in preparation for a trip to India, I contacted Language Trainers UK a few months ago. I was quickly provided with the contact details of a teacher who was willing to give me lessons at my home in London and was also flexible with regard to the schedule. Sadly, this teacher took on a new job which involved moving away from London. Language Trainers immediately provided me with a second teacher so that there was no interruption in my learning. To me, this is an important advantage of getting lessons through this organisation as opposed to being dependent on a single teacher. The second teacher proved to be as good as the first one and I am satisfied with my progress. I value learning from native speakers and also appreciate the reliability and punctuality I have experienced with these two teachers. The only critical comment I have concerns a deficiency, on the part of the teachers, concerns the knowledge of grammar. This is understandable since we learn our native language as children by imitation. We know that a sentence is ungrammatical because it does not sound right; we are largely unaware of the rules. Grammar, moreover, is not taught at schools anymore as it was in my generation. When I taught English to Germans, I always began with one or two basic grammar lessons to make sure we had a common frame of reference. Understanding prepositions, pronouns, tenses and so on is indispensable, in my view, to learning a new language as an adult. Finally, Sofia Cubido at Language Trainers has kept in touch throughout my training in order to make sure that the lessons are going well. This is much appreciated. In sum, I am happy to recommend Language trainers.
I couldn't ask more of Rani as a teacher. She is excellent and spends a great deal of time preparing for the lessons. As a tutor she is patient and encouraging. I'm making progress with the Hindi script and reading, but it's up to me now to learn my vocabulary and make full use of the lessons.
