If you are an absolute beginner, your Russian course will start with what we call “Survival Lessons”, in which you will get familiar with the alphabet and basic words and phrases necessary to start speaking in Russian. As you progress on your language journey, you will continue learning with a tailor-made programme based on communicative tasks (such as role-playing conversations at the airport or the restaurant, writing letters, preparing presentations and more).

Russian is not only the official language of Russia, but also of more than 10 surrounding countries. This means that speaking the language is an asset if you plan to work in any of these places or do business companies based in them. Similar to our Online General Lessons, if you are completely new to Russian, you will get started with the basics (such as learning the writing system and pronunciation rules). Once you are able to hold a simple conversation with Russian speakers, you can begin lessons more pertinent to your job.

In some cases, your requirements may be so specific that you cannot achieve your goals in any of our other courses. For example, if you are travelling to Russia in a short time for an important business meeting, you will need a tutor who can quickly teach you everything you need to know (such as specific vocabulary and etiquette). Similarly, if you plan to purchase property in a Russian-speaking country, the bargaining process and the contract are likely to be in Russian and use very specific terms and phrases. To ensure you cement your knowledge, we recommend students to take at least 10 hours of instruction. However, we can also offer short 5-hour courses, in case you have urgent needs.
